Esther Laney Weight, age 94, was born in Brigham City, Utah, Oct. 17, 1912 to George Culbert and Agnes Mitchell Laney. She left this life to join her eternal companion and a son January 4, 2007. Esther married Leslie LaMar Weight Oct. 12, 1934 in the Manti temple.
She is survived by her children: Janice (Glen LaMar) Holt, Conda Ann Sorensen, Marla Wilde, George LaMar (Jena Bell Christensen), Douglas Laney (Roylene Dearing), Nancy Feragen (her caregiver for over twelve years), Stanley (Julie Mae Howell), Ruth (Gregory Leon) Nielson; sister, Agnes Wood; sisters-in-law, Lucille Laney, Elzina Laney; brother-in-law, Woodrow (Edna Young) Weight; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband LaMar; son, Leslie; sons-in-law, Severin Lund Sorensen, Wayne Wilde; parents and eight brothers.
Our mother was a quiet angel with great love for her Savior and her family. Many who visited her home were impressed by the sweet spirit of love present there. Her sense of humor was evident until the very end.
The family gives thanks to the Vista Care Hospice Team that helped care for our dear mother and the services of many ward members.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hobble Creek Tenth Ward Chapel, 495 S. Canyon Dr., Springville, Utah. Viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville, Utah and at the chapel at 9:30 a.m., prior to the services.

Margaret Critchlow  Weight "Angel mother, cherished wife"
Angel mother, cherished wife, beloved daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Margaret Critchlow Weight, 81, passed away November 30, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Margaret was born January 29, 1926 in Provo, Utah, daughter of Frederick Benjamin and Angelina Coop Jarman Critchlow. She married Kenneth Edward Weight Jr. September 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. After attending public schools in Provo, she applied through the US Army Cadet Nurse Corp to the Thomas D. Dee Hospital Nursing Program. Following graduation, she worked at the Utah Valley Hospital on the maternity floor, later becoming the supervisor of that floor. She was also an active member in the LDS Church and loved to travel, read, sing and garden. However, Margaret's greatest love was her husband and family. She was the constant care giver, always thinking of others first.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Kenneth and children: Cheryl (Steve) Webster, Christine (Wes) Walker and Ryan K. (Diana) Weight; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Margerie Virginia Critchlow and Elinor Critchlow Frost; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth E. and Tryphena Brimhall Weight. brothers-in-law: Herbert Frost and Joseph E. Weight; and great-grandson, Bridger Beck. 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Willow Grove Ward, 8539 South 2200 West, West Jordan, UT, where a viewing will be held, 9:30-10:30 am prior to services. Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, Provo, Utah. Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.

Dorothy Hill Weight, 88, of Orem, died February 6, 2007 in Orem. She was born March 15, 1918, a daughter of John R. and Minerva Johnson Hill in Springville, Utah. She married Newell Bryan Weight on July 20, 1936 in Provo. Their marriage was solemnized in 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Dorothy was a very talented bookkeeper and she enjoyed writing in her journals. In high school she played the violin. She was a dedicated mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved music. Dorothy was a very supportive wife and she loved Maple Nut ice cream.

Dorothy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Relief Society President, Primary President and MIA President. She served 10 years in the Provo Temple as an ordinance worker. Dorothy and Newell served a mission to the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission.

Survivors include her husband Newell of Orem, her children, Coleen Reynolds of Redlands, CA, Marjorie Taylor of Mesa, AZ, Gary H. (Jayne) Weight of Orem, Alan D. (Jan) Weight of Springville, Diane Ricks of Canyon Country, CA, 28 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and a former daughter-in-law Naomi Weight. She was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Tetreault, a sister, two brothers, two sons-in-law Ed Tetreault and Bruford Reynolds.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Canyon Breeze for all the love and care that was shown to Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 6th & 8th Ward Chapel, 1035 South 800 East in Orem. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street in Orem and also Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

Phyllis Weight Crowder, 88, formerly of Springville UT, died of causes incident to age, Monday April 7, 2008. She was born on February 8, 1920, in Springville, Utah to Ernest Gilbert and Belva Diamond Weight.

Phyllis, the oldest of six children, grew up in Springville where she attended Springville High School. She later went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from BYU in 1943, majoring in drama and speech. She joined the U. S. Navy during WWII and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. After leaving the military, Phyllis then studied and acted at the Pasadena Playhouse in California. She later worked as an entertainment coordinator for the US Army in Europe, Seattle, and in New York City where she met her sweetheart, Ray. They later married, September 4, 1958, and moved to San Diego where they lived for 35 years raising their family. In 1996, due to Ray's failing health and later passing, they moved to Springville to be close to her siblings. In 2003 until her death, Phyllis lived in Canton (Atlanta), Georgia with her daughter and family.

She was dedicated to serving in the LDS Church and was known as one who gave her all in whatever calling she had. She especially loved her callings teaching in the arts and music. She excelled at writing and directing road-shows and ward skits. She served a number of years as a stake drama director, Primary chorister, cultural refinement teacher, and councilor in the Relief Society. She also loved and always served, until age 87, as a visiting teacher. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Phyllis is listed in the register at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Crowder Ensign (Jonathan) Canton Georgia; three grandchildren: Megan, Connor, & Ansley; A sister: Dorothy Stewart (Alan) Springville; three brothers, Kae Weight (Janice) Springville, Vernon Weight (Betsy) Eskdale Utah, Roger Weight (Lorraine) Seattle Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Belva Weight, husband, Raymond U. Crowder Jr., grandson, David Ensign, and brother, Creed Weight.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.

 

Newell Bryan Weight, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2009 with his family by his side at his home in Orem. He was born August 1, 1916 in Springville, Utah, a son of Ralph and Minerva Bryan Weight. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Hill on July 20, 1936 in Springville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1939.

Newell was a member of the Good Sam's Club and the Golden Kiwanis Club. He loved the out of doors, hunting, fishing and riding horses. He was a master gardener and always had a beautiful yard to show for all his hard work. He graduated from BYU with a Masters Degree in Music Education. He furthered his education by earning his Doctorate in Music from USC. Newell worked at BYU from 1949 to 1962. While there he founded the BYU Acapella Choir. In 1962 he moved to the University of Utah and expanded and refined their Acapella Choir. While at the University of Utah his choirs received two Grammy nominations and he served as the Chairman of the Music Department. He was known throughout the Music community for his achievements in conducting choirs. He retired in 1984 from the University of Utah. His artistic musical ability has touched the lives of many and he will be remembered for his dedication and love of music.

Newell is survived by his five children; Coleen Reynolds, Marjorie (Gary) Allred, Gary (Jayne) Weight, Alan (Jan) Weight, Diane (Scott) Barnes. He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Gloria, his three brothers; Ormon, Wilford, Vaun, his sisters; Wilda and Gladys. He is also preceded by his 2 grandsons Darren Taylor, Michael Reynolds and his sons-in-law Edward Tetreault and Bruford Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hillcrest 3rd Ward Chapel, 1450 South 800 East in Orem. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and also Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. Dr. Ed Thompson is organizing a choir to sing and honor Dr. Weight at his funeral services. Jetta Eustance Bronicel 1944 ~ 2005 Jetta Eustance Bronicel passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2005, due to respiratory failure. She was born to Faye Holst and Lemuel John Eustance October 2, 1944, in Murray, Utah. In 1963, she married Ronald Jay Bronicel in the Salt Lake Temple and became a widow in 1978. She is survived by her children Cori Giardiello (Nick), Glade J. Bronicel, and her granddaughter, Kelsi Giardiello. Family and friends may call Monday, September 5, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Murray, Utah, and the next day, September 6th at the mortuary one hour prior to the 11 a.m. graveside services at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 So. Vine Street. Jetta has requested that a funeral not be held and that this self-written obituary contain a bare minimum of words.

Jacqueline "Jackie" Taylor Eustance 1932 ~ 2009 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Jackie Taylor Eustance passed away on May 27, 2009 following a serious accident. Born February 12, 1932 in Preston, Idaho to Ira and Alice Winger Taylor. She spent most of her life in Murray, graduating from Murray High. She married Doran Eustance in the Salt Lake Temple April 24, 1953. She was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings. She loved music, especially the hymns. She is survived by her three children, Emily (Kenneth) Olson, Eric and Erin Eustance; her six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and sisters Alice (Denton) Haueter, Maxine (Dale) Jensen, sister-in-law Gwendolyn Taylor. Preceded in death by her husband Doran, sisters Wanda, Kathryne and brother Ira Taylor. Doran Vern Eustance 4/23/1932 ~ 11/12/2008 Doran passed away November 12th, at his favorite place, HOME, of natural causes, with his family by his side.He was born April 23, 1932 to Lemuel and Faye Eustance at his family home in Murray. He and his two sisters Joye and Jetta have great memories of their adventures on Martin Lane. His parents and sister Jetta Bronicel are deceased. He graduated from Murray High School (class of 1950). Doran was a hard worker and took pride in his home, family and carpentry work (he could build anything.) Doran and Jackie were married, April 24,1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved into their home in Murray the summer of 1956 and this has been their home ever since. They were blessed with three wonderful children. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a High Priest in the Hillside Ward. He is survived by his wife and eternal companion Jackie; children Emily (Kenneth) Olson, Spotslyvania, Virginia; Eric, Murray, Erin, West Valley; his six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his sister Joye Payne, Huron, So. Dakota. We, Doran's family, wish to express our thanks to Cindy, VA Hospital and Barbara and Dana his Hospice nurses. They have been so wonderful. We thank the members of the Hillside Ward for their prayers and support through Doran's illness. Services will be held at Hillside Ward, 495 East 5600 So, at 12 Noon on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008. James Keith Parker
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor, died Feb. 3, 2008 of Pneumonia at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, just short of his 83rd birthday and 60th wedding anniversary. He was a good and honest man. A true gentleman!
He was born on March 29, 1925 in Murray, Utah. He served in the Army, in Italy, during World War II. He was sealed to his sweetheart, Reva Thorne, on March 19, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. He lived his entire life on his grandfather's pioneer homestead which he purchased from his grandmother. He was a member of the original Bennion Ward, and passed away as a faithful member of the Brookshire Ward. He retired from Kennecott Copper following 33 years of employment. His family was his life and he showed that by the hours he spent in play with, and service to them. He was an example to us in life and will be an inspiration and guiding light to his posterity.
Preceded in death by parents, Emil and Myrtle Parker; siblings Gilbert Parker, Donna Parker Cook and Marjorie Parker. Survived by his wife, Reva; son, Ralph (Diana), daughters: Marilyn (Rod) King, and Judy (Brad) Sorensen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Parker Heiden.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 12 noon at the Brookshire Ward, 1325 W. 5550 S. A Viewing will be held Wed. 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Thurs. at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to Services.

Ernest Baker Jackson Obituary

Bicknell, UT./Yuma,AZ. - Ernest Baker Jackson, age 88, passed away March 27, 2003 at his home in Yuma, Arizona.
He was born March 31, 1914 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Joseph Buet and Adeline Baker Jackson. Ernest graduated from Wayne High School and attended Snow College in Ephraim.
He served in World War II under General Patton's Third Army, 775th Field Artillery Battalion. He flew 290 missions as a liaison pilot, directing artillery fire. He was awarded the Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars. He ended his military career as a Captain.
He married Elva Allen June 8, 1943 in the Manti LDS Temple. Ernest taught school and served as principal in Bicknell. He continued his education at Brigham Young University and went on to earn his PhD from the University of Nebraska. He was a Professor of Plant Science and a Research Scientist - agronomy for the University of Arizona. He retired in 1983 from the U of A as a Emeritus Professor and Research Scientist.
Ernest was an active member of the LDS Church throughout his life, serving in many capacitites, including scout master, member of the district presidency in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, member of the building committee for the LDS 8th Street Chapel and a member of the Bishopric of the Yuma 2nd Ward. He was also involved in community affairs, serving a term as mayor of Bicknell. Ernest and Elva enjoyed spending their summers in Bicknell and associating with the good people of Wayne County. His retirement years were spent hunting, fishing, building a cabin in Wayne County and enjoying his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elva; his eight children: JoAnn and Wayne Kalama, Azusa, CA; Anita and Alan Newman, Huntington Beach, CA; Mary and Ron Curl, Riverside, CA; Ernest Lee and Nancy Jackson, Glendora, CA; Barbara and Kim Brody, Yuma, AZ; David Ellett and Lisa Jackson, Glendora, CA; Donna and Donald Rohbock, Fruit Heights, UT; Jeri Lyn and Val Taylor, Yuma, AZ; 45 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters: Ferol and Jack Evans of Salt Lake City; Geneve and Garn Turner of Loa; sister-in-law: Thelma Paulson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex Jackson and Worth Jackson. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 1:0 P.M. in the Bicknell Cemetery. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #36 will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnsion, Utah.

Elva Ellett Jackson Obituary
Bicknell, Ut/Yuma,AZ - Elva Ellett Jackson, age 85 of Yuma, Arizona and formerly of Bicknell, died November 17, 2008 in Yuma. She was born September 21, 1923 in Bicknell, Utah, a daughter of Almon Clifford and Venettia Rasmussen Ellett. Her father died when she was four years old and she was raised in Bicknell, by her widowed mother and her grandparents.
She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1941. She attended Brigham Young University.
On June 8, 1943 she married Ernest Baker Jackson in the Manti LDS Temple. He died March 27, 2003. Elva moved to Yuma in 1958 when her husband took a job there. For over 20 years she sold real estate in Yuma. She had a broker's license, but chose to work first for Jacobsen Realty and later for Town and Country Realty.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities, including Young Women's President and Relief Society President. With all of her accomplishments, she felt her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an influence for good in their lives.
She is survived by her eight children: JoAnn (Wayne) Kalama of Azusa, CA; Anita (Alan) Newman of Huntington Beach, CA; Mary (Ron) Curl of Riverside, CA; Ernest Lee (Nancy) Jackson of Glendora, CA; Barbara (Kim) Broby of Yuma, AZ; David Ellett (Lisa) Jackson of Glendora, CA; Donna (Donald) Rohbock of Fruit Heights, UT; Jeri Lynn (Val) Taylor of Yuma, AZ; 45 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Mont and Elaine Ellett of Bicknell.
She was preceded in death by her step-sister, Ellen (Orlo) Durfey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Delores Anna Peterson Weight Obituary
Mom passed away May 11, 2008 at the Woodland Park Care Center in East Millcreek, Utah at age 91.
Born March 13, 1917 Salt Lake City, Utah to Louis and Hilda (Pierson) Peterson. Married Alma L. Weight on March 2, 1934 and was later sealed at Jordan River Temple.
Survived by two sons LaVar (Ann) Weight and Kenneth (Sandy) Weight, 14 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband (Bud), brothers Harold, Arvin, and Kenneth. Mom had a sweet loving way about her and loved being around family. She loved to go shopping and she enjoyed crocheting and making beautiful things. She will be missed.
Funeral Services will held Friday, May 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Taylorsville 8th Ward Chapel, 1495 Tamarack Road. A Viewing will be one hour prior to Services at the Church. Flowers may be delivered to the Church Friday from 9 a.m.
Interment: Sandy City Cemetery.

David Edwards Sperry, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. He resided at 214 North M Street (847 East) in the Avenues neighborhood of Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of his death.
David was born March 31, 1916 in Salt Lake City, UT, son of Leo Weight and Hazel Edwards Sperry. He married Marjorie Andrew Taylor on November 27, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. David spent all his life serving in the LDS Church with the scouting program being his favorite. He was an avid model train collector starting his hobby when he was 11 years of age. David loved his family, grand and great-grandchildren.
David is survived by his children Barbara (Leon) Badgett, Kathrine (Clarke) Williams, Elaine (David) Merrigan, Annette (Lee) Moulton, Leo (Joan) Sperry, brother, Alan Sperry, 69 grandchildren, 83 great- grandchildren, and one great-great- grand. Preceded in death by his wife; two daughters; Rebecca Fultz and Jean Litchfield; three grandsons: Douglas, Curtis and Layn Williams.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 12 noon at the Salt Lake 27th LDS Ward Chapel, 4th Avenue and P Street, Salt Lake City, UT. Marjorie Andrew Taylor Sperry, daughter of Heber Richards Taylor and Afton Evans, was born on 13 Jul 1916 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA, died on 12 May 2000 at age 83, and was buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA. Marjorie married D. Sperry in 1935 in Farmington, Davis, Utah, USA. They had seven children.

Rebecca Marjorie Sperry Fultz, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, returned home to her Heavenly Father, Saturday, September 23, 1995 at the age of 55, at St. Mark's Hospital. 
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many dear people who cared for her and her family, especially the nurses of 3 West. Rebecca was born in Salt Lake City on March 22, 1940 to David and Marjorie Sperry, the second of seven children. She graduated from East High School, attended BYU, and graduated from the U of U in Home Economics in 1962. She married her eternal companion, LeRoy William Fultz (ENC, USN, Ret.) on June 29, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple after a long letter-writing courtship. Rebecca then went on to raise three sons and three daughters, who will remember her for the time she freely gave to them and the service she constantly gave to others. 
Rebecca spent all of her life in service through her numerous callings in the LDS Church and Boy Scout program. Friends and neighbors will not forget her kindness and ever-willing spirit. Rebecca taught Jr. High School home economics prior to her marriage and was employed as the seamstress at Little America for the past five years. Co-workers will long remember Rebecca's pleasant attitude and ever-present smile.

COLUMBIA/EAST CARBON CITY - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt, Eva Ann Baker Ellett, died April 26, 2003 at home with her family at her side.
She was born July 27, 1911 in Bicknell, Wayne County, to Benjamin John Baker and Samantha Lucinda Mangum Baker. She married Freeman Ellett April 7, 1931 in Nephi. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away Oct. 6, 2001.
They are the parents of four daughters.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary for many years and was a Relief Society president in her ward under four bishops. This was a special and memorable time in her life. She also served in the Relief Society presidency during the short time they lived in Salt Lake City.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a great homemaker.
We will all remember the pies she baked, the afghans she crocheted and her beautiful ceramic works of art. Through her many operations and afflictions, she became a woman of great strength, developing patience and never losing her sense of humor. She loved keeping in touch with her many dear friends.
She will be remembered for the positive influence she had on the lives of others. We will miss her and love her forever.
She is survived by daughters and their husbands, Eva LaRae and Phillip Green of Salt Lake City; Freda and Kenneth Harris of Tooele; Arva Dean and Scott Squire of Orem; and Carol and Bruce Hintze of Ivins; 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by twin granddaughters, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be Wednesay, April 30, 11 a.m., at the East Carbon LDS Chapel where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 10:45 prior to services. Burial, Bicknell Cemetery at 4 p.m.
